Health, hormones & happiness {how to live well in this changing world}

I attended a seminar last night presented by nutritionist Hayley Wallace. Hayley is the author of ‘Finding Wellness’ ~ a book about her journey from advanced cancer to wellness. She was given the all clear in just 9 weeks from her initial diagnosis. Incredible.

I thought I would discuss some points from the seminar that resonated with me & that I thought you might be interested in as well. Remember, these are Hayley Wallace’s views & it is up to you to decide what you want to do with this information ~ take on board/disregard/ignore etc. I don’t necessarily agree with it all, but I did find it interesting & worth sharing.

// ATTITUDE //

Attitude is everything.
• Notice your reactions to events ~ respond don’t react to situations. It’s not the event, it’s your response that counts.
• Nothing is good or bad until you decide it is. {I’m not too sure about that statement entirely, but I do believe our thoughts create our world. The mind is a very powerful thing.}
• Our attitude & emotions play a major part in our health.
• Things in life don’t just happen ~ everything has a cause & effect. {Especially in relation to illnesses/conditions in our bodies.}
• Blaming the past is waste of energy. What are you going to do to move forward NOW?
Always move forward.

// FOOD & DIET //
• Big focus on quote above from ‘In Defense of Food’ ~ Michael Pollen {Highly recommended book to read.}
Avoid the western diet. {eg: coloured/preserved/processed/overcooked}.
Hydration SO important. {like a car, we need water to properly absorb nutrients/minerals in foods}.
• A study found the majority of Australians were suffering moderate to extreme dehydration. Wow.
• We are designed to eat & rest / repeat. Not too eat all day long.
• We don’t get hungry enough these days because we can eat whenever we want; it’s a habit & food is readily available.
• When we eat too much we’re putting too much strain on our bodies; they work work work; especially with ‘empty’ processed foods as we’re not getting satisfied, therefore continually eating.
• Remember we are all different.

// WHAT WAS RECOMMENDED TO EAT //

Fresh raw organic foods.
• At least 60% of the diet raw food {minimum 50%}.
• All meat, butter, oils & fatty foods should be organic {as toxins are stored in animal fat, which we are consuming, if they are not fed well, pasture-fed, no pesticides etc ~ we would consume the toxins through the corresponding product}.
• Vegetables & fruits should be organic {without sprays/pesticides}.
• Minimise carbohydrates.

// HEALTH RECOMMENDATIONS //

• Get rid of microwaves ~ science has proved they are one of the worst things for toxins etc due to overcooking foods & radiation from the moment the button is pressed.
• Thaw things in morning for dinner {like our parents/grandparents did}.
Detox ~ as within our body, toxins have same pathways as nutrients into our cells. Put minerals & nutrients into our bodies to fill up pathways which will protect us from future contact with heavy metal toxins.
• Supplementing recommended, firstly with whole foods. Following that ~ add multivitamins, antioxidants, EFAs & more as needed.
Alkaline our bodies.

// CHEMICALS & HORMONES //

• “2000 newly synthesised chemicals are put out into commercial production each year” ~ ‘Chasing Molecules’ : Elizabeth Grossman.
• Chemicals are presumed safe until proven otherwise {case studies: DDT / endosulfan}.
• Reduce your ‘eco footprint’ on yourself.
• Take precaution & avoid chemicals just in case they’re proven toxic/carcinogenic in the future.
Is that fragrant product such a good idea?Most liquid cleaning agents, many personal hygiene products, air fresheners and perfumed toiletries contain VOCs. Some people’s health rapidly deteriorates after smelling or coming into contact with one or more of these types of product, even for just a few seconds.” {Information available from government to warn us, but most people not aware the information is there ~ it’s a quiet message.}
• High levels of oestrogen are a problem in society currently & leach from plastics/chemical products/pesticides ~ progesterone is protective ~ worth increasing via supplement.
• Adrenal depletion is a key factor for many problems we see today ~ menopause etc.
• Thyroid problems due to ~ fluoride, chlorine, bromine, radiation. ‘Lugols Iodine’ recommended from a compounding chemist 2-3 drops on inner wrist each night until no longer absorbed ie: colour still visible in morning.
Filter all water.
• The thinner the plastic worse it is for leaching into food. Do not reheat plastic. Don’t put cling wrap on hot food.
Use glass or stainless steel.
• Saliva hormone testing recommended as more accurate than blood testing.

// EMFs & HOW TO BALANCE //

• Electromagnetic frequencies ~ linked to leukaemia.
• History of Autism begins in 1940. Now 1 in 90 are Autustic in QLD.
• EMFs piggyback on toxic chemicals in our nervous system ~ our cells oscillate at the same rate as ‘dirty electricity’ ~ going faster or slower than at usual balance.
• Positive vs negative charge ~ man made technology creates positive charge, earths surface creates negative charge.
Walk barefoot on grass/soil/sand/rocks. Get feet out of shoes & stand on earth, upload electrons ~ absorb negative ions.
• Antioxidants donate electrons.
• Lean against a tree.
Bathe in fresh or ocean water.
Lie on the grass.
• Recommends negative ion filters/generators to minimise exposure in house/tecnology & on phone.
• Crystals hold frequency, donate negative ions & self regenerate.
• Underwire bras ~ replace!

// INFANT HEALTH //

• Begin with basic foods ~ avoid packaged items.
• Good quality, filtered water. {Reverse osmosis for tap water}.
• Supplement from the start.
• Avoid toxic chemicals.
• Reduce EMF exposure.
• Create a safe bedroom {electronics/baby monitors etc should be at least 2m away from cot/baby}.
• Investigate the vaccination topic.
Choose to create a happy home.

// OVERVIEW – 4 STEPS TO INCREASE WELLNESS //

I hope you found some of my notes from Hayley’s seminar of use. She was recommending products & selling some there along with her books, but personally I think this above information is enough & fantastic to take on board & then research certain areas of interest more in depth. Hayley has listed her ‘20 Steps To Better Health on her website & if you are interested you can also locate where she is doing further events. She mentioned she is now travelling Australia, heading from QLD to NSW then all around the country; followed by a trip to NZ. Overall, I found it an enlightening seminar & was great to hear from someone with so many years of expertise, as well as just being a person who has survived & ‘beaten’ advanced cancer. Intriguing.

    Interesting. I’m quite doubtful about several advices, especially concerning the positive and negative ions… There are positive and negative ions in everything, including our bodies (the heartbeats are based on +/- exchanges, for example), and I would be very interested by an explaination about the earth “exhaling” negative ions… This said, laying in the grass and walking barefoot can’t be bad advices ! :)

    • Hi Lil! I should have probably elaborated there, but she was concerned with the increase of positive charge in our homes from technology {phones, TVs, gadgets, computers etc} that could be effecting the positive/negative balance. I’m sure every home is different though, as you could have a lot of natural living things (plants etc) & not much technology & you may feel balanced. I felt it was an interesting point & something worth thinking about ~ as we do feel amazing when out in nature :) Each to their own of course, take & leave what you will ~ I hope some points were of value for you :) have a lovely day!
